Will You Be a TRP Ambassador?

It has been just over a month since George Floyd was killed by Minneapolis Police spurring ongoing demonstrations and dialog throughout our nation and world. Sadly, Mr. Floyd’s death was far from the first of its kind.

Our organization, and its mission, occupy an intersection where many injustices are present and deeply intertwined. Issues like recidivism, mass incarceration, and the stigmatization of felons often impact Black Americans and other communities of color disproportionately. According to the Vera Institute of Justice, "Black men comprise about 13% of the general population, but about 35% of those incarcerated." We witness this disparity firsthand when we’re in the prisons and even in the make up of our own program participants—70% of whom are Black.

Due to many of the events happening in our nation, we’re seeing an increased interest in The Redemption Project and a greater understanding about the transformative power and potential of our mission—partnering with employers to provide inmates with mentoring opportunities while incarcerated and meaningful employment upon release.

You can help us build on this momentum in our fight against recidivism, injustice, and other issues within the criminal justice system by taking this action…talk about us! We need ambassadors like you who can quickly and passionately share what The Redemption Project does and how to get involved with our efforts. To help you help us, we’ve created a 3 step resource called the Ambassador Toolkit. Check it out below!

Being a TRP Ambassador doesn't have to be complicated. By using your own words and the steps below as a guide, we're confident that your passion will help more people get to know us. Remember, one seemingly small conversation with a friend or colleague can have a BIG impact!

Step 1 | Share the Challenge

Over 2.2 million Americans are incarcerated today. Upon release from prison, the social stigma and employment barriers associated with being incarcerated often prevent former inmates from attaining meaningful employment. Many return to the life they knew in the past with the inevitable results of returning to prison within a few years.

Step 2 | Explain the Mission

The Redemption Project partners with employers to provide inmates with mentoring opportunities while incarcerated and meaningful employment upon release. Meaningful employment has been shown to significantly reduce the likelihood an individual will return to prison.

Step 3 | Encourage an Action

Visit The Redemption Project's website, www.redemptionproject.org. Once there, click the "Get Involved" button in the top right corner for opportunities to support TRP as an individual and/or a business/organization.

The more people that get involved and support us, the more people we can mentor, get into good jobs with sustainable wages, and keep out of prison.

Thank you for supporting
and sharing our mission!
