Tim Owens

Chairman of the Board

Tim is a Co-Founder of The Redemption Project. Tim's interest in reentry issues and reducing recidivism stems from his own incarceration in federal prison from July of 2016 until September of 2017, having pleaded guilty to one count of obstruction of justice. Tim was responsible for starting the Employment Partner Program which utilized his business skills in matching Employers with suitable inmates. As Chairman of the Board, he now plays an instrumental role in the strategic planning of the organization and its business administration functions. Prior to founding The Redemption Project, Tim had a 30+ year career in commercial banking.

Dwight Tostenson

president & ceo

Dwight is a Co-Founder and CEO of The Redemption Project. In this role, Dwight oversees the strategic direction of the organization with a particular emphasis on the Virtues for Success curriculum. Dwight has been approved by the Bureau of Prisons to serve as a mentor for incarcerated individuals and routinely visits the prisons in which The Redemption Project operates. Dwight has a strong passion for social justice and for providing second chances to former felons. He also brings over 20 years of executive management experience to the organization.

Chelsey Berstler

treasurer

Chelsey serves as Vice President of Affordability for UnitedHealthcare's Government Businesses (Medicare and Medicaid). In this role she and her team work closely with UHC's Clinical, Network and Operations teams to improve the total cost of care and ensure affordable health care access for some of the nation's most vulnerable citizens. Chelsey joined UnitedHealth Group in 2003, and has served in a variety of Operations, Finance and Strategy roles. Prior to joining UnitedHealth Group, Chelsey worked at Arthur Andersen.

Mark Larson

Secretary & Board Attorney

Mark is of counsel at Messerli Kramer, a law firm in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he began practice in 1977. He focuses his practice on corporate, business, and tax law, with an emphasis in the general representation of exempt organizations and nonprofit providers of health care, senior living, and social services. Much of his work involves assisting these organizations with financing and development activities and complex business transactions, often involving real estate and tax-exempt revenue bond financing.

Peter Bell

Peter founded and was the first Executive Director of the Institute on Black Chemical Abuse in 1975, which he built into the nation's primary resource of information on alcohol and drug abuse in the African American Community. Since then, he has been a sought after consultant for Human Service professionals in the areas of cultural aspects of alcohol/drug abuse at national and international levels, has held leadership positions at TCF Bank and Hazelden, and sat on St. Paul's Metropolitan Council (a cabinet-level position appointed by the Governor and ratified by the State Senate).

In 2008, Bill founded Integrated Governance Solutions, LLC (IGS), an organization whose goal is to support achievement of a higher standard of board and risk governance within the marketplace and other realms of institutions such as nonprofits, academia, and government. He currently serves as the Founder/Board Chair of IGS, which has developed a market-leading innovation and product called Solomon365 solutions.

Paul Owen

Paul is currently the Chief Operating Officer for Kailos Genetics of whom provides research and medical professionals with a comprehensive range of technology, products and services based upon its complete clinical solution for Next Generation Sequencing.
